Never knew Hooters served such good chicken wings! Was there on Thursday with DXJ, she finally gets to eat her Hooters chicken wings again... but not before making me wait an hour... nearly starved to death :P Now we are even ah!
Ordered some cheese sticks too and washed it all down with a bottle of Hoegarden, really good I must say! As usual Clarke Quay is packed on the PH eve. After that we strolled around a bit, was tempted to go to MOS again but in the end drove down to Dome@Dempsy Hill and had tea with fries and calamari rings while just chatting away about our work and life :) Too much heaty food, can feel a sore throat coming LOL
Set off for home around 12am, the TP already at full force with a road block just after the exit from Dempsy. They are really strict this time, but lucky never get pulled over for a test, but I should be fine anyway :P DXJ suggested St James next week... let's see how hehe.
We shall go back Hooters for the chicken wings again!

Old Age & Sickness...
Just visited my grandfather at NUH this evening after work. He's not in a very good shape, already in the hospital for almost a month following complications for his health condition.
He has become much frailer... feel so... sad(?) Seeing all the tubes coming out of his body and the respirator mask on his face... Does really make you think if this is how you will be like when you are old. I guess 人老了就是这样。。。
I think everyone in the family is expecting the worst... he has lived to a ripe old age of 91, which is more than enough for anyone IMO. I think he is contented with his life, being able to watch his children grow up and be a great grandfather... I would be happy too... I pray that he will not have to suffer much longer...
---
Just received a call from my father, they are all at the hospital now, things don't look good... Now I really feel man are so helpless when death comes knocking...

Annoyed ~
I am annoyed today...
#1 Now even blogspot has been blocked in my office...zZz. Might as well just block everything, like my friend put it... the default page when you open the browser is the Forbidden page. Don't understand why they need to be so .... liddat -.- No Facebook, Friendster, Gmail, Blogspot, all the major IM clients and even Singapore Pools @#$%. I agree with Qi, perhaps people will waste more time trying to get around this instead of working. What's wrong with a little bit of social networking at work? Bad for morale, think blogspot was the last straw... WAKE UP whoever that is behind this idea!!
#2 Imagine giving someone a lift and the person is on the phone the whole time... have to say I am a little annoyed -.-, but don't get it wrong, not angry though, just annoyed. But nevermind I will forget it soon! 说了就算了!^^
----
I got like 3 or 4 draft posts... will try to put them up today or tomorrow. Oh tomorrow busy whole day with my friend's wedding, gotta wake up at 5+ am... should I sleep tonight?? keke

IT Fair 2008
Yes!! The IT Fair starts today. A bunch of us at work went down to Suntec during lunchtime to see see look look ^^ Already quite a fair bit of people but I expect will be even worse come the weekend! This year is really big, 4 levels worth of booths. Think the big brands like Sony, Panasonic are going out all this year, heaps of exhibits from them.
The bottom 2 levels are like dominated by Panasonic and Sony. I did not see the Panasonic one but passed by the huge Sony show area, showcasing PS3, their Bravia line of LCD TV, their VAIO notebook...you get the picture! The next level is all about laptops, tv and consumer electronics (even fridges...). Briefly walked around and headed up to the last level where they sell the normal IT stuff. Lots of booths, though majority still from big brands plying their product. I was disappointed to only see a small number of booths selling assorted computer parts.
Well I am there with a mission too! (See my earlier IT Roadmap post) Unfortunately I did not find the NAS product I wanted from Qnap. I must say again I was disappointed there's not a lot of booth specialising in storage, perhaps not that popular with general consumer yet.
Anyway I did ended up buying another brand which I considered before, the DLink DNS-323, and a 500GB Western Digital harddisk to go with it. Also bought a Gigabit network switch and 2 Gigabit network card from DLink as well to upgrade my network since the DNS-323 is also Gigabit enabled. Hopefully with the Gigabit network the performance would not be too bad! Ok for those who now is already lost... most of the standard network connection now is 100Mbps, Gigabit is 1000Mbps, 10x faster ^^
Total damage ... 500+ but I am a HAPPY MAN! Well I am not the biggest spender yet... one of the guys bought a Nikon SLR (well over 1k..) and 2 bought a 40" Bravia LCD (over 3k...) Will chronicle my experience setting up the devices in my next post.

My IT Roadmap
IT Fair 2008 is just a few days away.
I been thinking what I need from there and decided to focus on enabling digital media streaming in my house. That means I want to access my digital media like mp3 songs, mpeg videos, jpg pictures on my PC from my home entertainment system and TV in my living room (or anywhere else)
This picture will give you an idea....
At this day and age digital media is very widespread, pictures from digital cameras, songs downloaded online etc.
Most of the time they reside on your PC and can only be played on the computer. It will be very cool if you can access these not only via your PC, imagine how that will impress your guests ^^
This can be further extended to have the ability to record TV programs and store them for future playback.
To acheive this I have come up with a list of to dos
1. Get a Network Attached Storage (NAS) - a central repository to store all media so it can be accessed by all computers/device on the network (as opposed to storing on 1 PC, think network drive)
2. Upgrade network to Gigabit - so I can transfer large files faster. I do video editing at home, so files greater than 1 GB are common. Don't want to wait ages for it to be transfered to the NAS. Need a Gigabit switch and network cards.
3. Get a wireless card for my XBOX360 and configure it to be able to pull media from the NAS and send it to the TV or home entertainment system.
4. Get a new HDTV, preferably Full HD - so my nice XBOX graphics wouldn't be wasted! :P
Any sponsors?? ... *ahem* birthday come soon... keke

Slackin' Feb
It's March already.... feels like New Year just passed! Just realised I have been slacking in Feb, only 7 posts nia (well Feb's shorter... :P) Anyway I think I have been quite busy with work trying to meet the task timeline. Time really flies when you are busy...
Was fully booked today LOL.
Lunch :: Met up with VV at her new work place to have lunch for the first time. Didn't have much time so ate nearby at the Amoy Street hawker. Super packed at lunch but luckily managed to get a seat. It was quite enjoyable and hope to lunch with you again next time :)
Evening :: Met up with tangtang for Ben and Jerry@Dempsy. Been a while since we went there, think is last year before Xmas. She's just finished her term. Next will be last term before graduation, must JY tangtang! Any seafood fan? Jumbo opening at Dempsy...
----
Oh yar found out from the taxi uncle there's this new rule that taxi can now only stop at taxi stands when in town. Imagine how inconvienient for the passenger, take taxi but still have to walk! LTA wake up your idea... this is taxi, not bus or mrt
